Cats

Koko and Tawa - In 1992 I adopted two litter mates from the Denver Cat Care Society. Tawa travels with me in my motor home but Kokopelli is no longer with us. He developed diabetes and died after four years of treatment. He was a very lovable cat, I think perhaps he knew he wouldn't be around for a long time so he needed to collect all his pets and love early in life.

Leisel is the new kitty who is very smart. She was named after Einstein's daughter (which also explains the [mis]spelling of her name). She is very photogenic and loves to be the center of attention. When she first came to the house, she was very forward with the other cats (which at that time were each double her own weight). They must have known that she would calm down eventually because they didn't put up a fight.

Leisel is also very vocal about what she wants and when she wants it. I'm still trying to get a good sound clip of her asking for her favorite mouse. Or just a clip of her telling me to go away and let her sleep. Leisel spent a large part of the first year of her life at the Denver Dumb Friends League and was the darling of the staff there.

I have a small office in my home which allows me to keep track of all of my important things like all of the good cooking tips I find on the Internet through the Kitchen Link or on Food TV. Most of the time the cats don't care about the office, but lately Tawa has been hanging around my web browser making these faces at me. I think that he has found the link to the Cat's House page and is not happy with his current living space anymore. Then I caught him trying to find my files on catnip later that day.

Tawa - Smart, but still a scaredy cat
